  28. I've now managed to format my hda3 partition as ext2 (see the thread
  29. mknod and mke2fs).

  31. This involved completely blanking the HD to remove an old ICS partition
  32. table which was confising the Linux kernel.

  35. So I copied the RPMs onto the partition, copied base and instimage.
  36.  
  37. Ran the installer.  When asked what I wanted to install, I left all
  38. unchecked (i.e. a bare minimum install).  The installer went through its
  39. install bit (with the bars), asked me which keyboard, mouse I was using
  40. etc.
  41.  
  42. Got to the message "Could not find kernel" so I followed the suggestion
  43. given somewhere else to do a /mnt/bin/sync.
  44.  
  45. Right.  So I should now have linux installed.  Now, when I next startup
  46. linux, with
  47. !Linux -bootkernel rpc
  48. I still get asked to insert the Linux root disc.
  49.  
  50. Surely it should now be able to boot from the hda3?  Do I need to pass
  51. a command line argument to the bootloader or something??
